Brother Mike

Donna’s eldest son and third born child, passed away just two weeks and two days after her last living sibling, Margaret Bertling. A Mass for Mike will be held at St. Pat’s in Waukon on June 2, 2024 at 8 AM. Here is his obituary.

I have been busily adding recipes. Linda sent me a table of contents of an older Snitker Cookbook, but I have managed to lose my copies of the Snitker Cookbooks I have distributed in the past.

October Christmas 2023

By my rough count, forty-nine people partook in October Christmas 2023 at the Driftless Area Inn. Mom hosted nine offspring with five bringing mates, fifteen grandchildren with five bringing mates, three nephews bringing significant others and one bringing their two kids. I’m not mentioning names here as I do not have permission from each individual. I am including a photo that captures the bulk of participants in hopes that no one will object to their image being on this low traffic family website.

Our Family

In the early fifties, a fun night out for young adults meant gathering for some dancing and a bit of pie. Dad told me he knew Mom was a good catch because she had a good-looking mother and baked a good pie. He wasn’t much for dancing, I wonder how he managed to woo my mom!
