October Christmas 2025

The Snitker Family–siblings, inlaws, children, nieces, nephews, cousins, beloveds–will be gathering Saturday, October 18th at the Driftless Area Inn to celebrate family. Sheila has been good about coordinating this shindig. Please be sure to express your appreciation and be as helpful as possible to her. Out of towners spending the weekend often gather Friday evening. Soup, grilled cheese sandwiches, and snacks are commonly shared Friday evening. A few prefer to go out to a restaurant. Regardless there are usually games and fun going on at the inn late into the evening. Mom has generously reserved the inn. There may be room for you there or you may opt to find your own lodging in the Lansing area.

Saturday a meal is shared around Noon. Meats and mashed potatoes with gravy are planned. Everyone is encouraged to bring a side dish and/or dessert or snack. Those details are often shared on FB. Leftovers and additional treats are often brought out for dinner. After lunch, some folks opt to distribute gifts such as homemade goodies/crafts or purchased tidbit, wine or whatnot. Follow your heart and worry not if you are not inspired to gift. The most appreciated gift is your presence.

More games are played throughout the day and evening. After dinner it has been a tradition to play SNOOP! Many contribute scratch off lottery cards to hand out as prizes for SNOOP. The game is played at tables of four competing with prizes each round for first to go out and low score at each table, continuing rounds until the prize bowl runs low. Prizes for high score and low score are handed out at the end.

Sunday leftovers and left behinds are divied out as we effort leaving the inn in good shape. The last to leave take out the trash and recycling.
