Our Family

In the early fifties, a fun night out for young adults meant gathering for some dancing and a bit of pie. Dad told me he knew Mom was a good catch because she had a good-looking mother and baked a good pie. He wasn’t much for dancing, I wonder how he managed to woo my mom!

Although Mom was tempted by business school, her parents insisted marriage was the better route. In 1956 the two were married and immediately started a family and farming.

I don’t remember the old house though I think I was born before the move to West Ridge. They had nine kids in a dozen years then had another nearly nine years later–mostly girls but Dad did tell me some of his girls were his best boys.

Ninth born was me, Sandi. I’m the one responsible for this website. I’m hoping it proves a good place for collecting and sharing family stories, recipes, crafts–all the treasures we have accumulated.
