Spoons

Players and Setup

At least three up to as many as you can gather around the table (up to 12). Use a standard 52 card deck and one less spoon than the number of players. Place spoons in the center of the table to assure every player has equal reach to pick one up.

Goal

To get a spoon. The first spoon can only be taken by a person with four of a kind (four of the same number or royal rank). After that first spoon has been claimed, anyone can take a spoon.

Game Play

Deal four cards to each player. Place the remaining cards, if there are any, face down in a stack to the right of the dealer.

The dealer picks a card from the stack, then passes a card to their left. The other players take the card being passed and select a card to pass to their left with the purpose of collecting four of a kind.

Once a player has collected four of a kind or see someone else has taken a spoon, they take a spoon, but continue to pass cards from their right to their left.

Again, once a player has taken a spoon, any player can take a spoon regardless of their hand, but should continue to pass cards from their right to their left.

When all the spoons have been taken, play stops. The player who did not get a spoon is out of the game.

The cards are shuffled, the spoons placed in the center of the table at equal reach for all players, but one spoon is removed because their is one less player.

Winning

Rounds are played until only one player remains. That player is the winner.
