Apple Pie In A Jar
Ingredients
- 4 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 cup cornstarch
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 10 cups water
- 3 Tablespoons lemon juice
- 6 quarts apples
Instructions
- Peel and slice apples and fill quart jars tightly.
- Cook remaining ingredients until thick and bubbly.
- Cover apples with syrup and process 20 minutes in hot water bath.
Notes
This recipe from Peggy makes for a quick apple crisp. Dump a jar in an square cake pan, top with streusel, and bake 20 minutes at 350F.
Basic streusel is a half cup of butter, half cup brown sugar, dash of cinnamon, dash of nutmeg, three quarter cup of oatmeal, and three quarter cup flour.
