Chop Suey in 30 Minutes
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 pounds ground pork
- 2 Tablespoons shortening
- 3 cups chopped onion
- 3 cups chopped celery
- 3/4 cup celery tops
- 8 ounce can sliced mushrooms
- 2 large green peppers
- chopped
- 3 cubes bouillon
- 3 cups hot water
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1 Tablespoon soy sauce
- 4 cups cooked white rice
- 2 cups chow mein noodles
Instructions
- Brown pork in shortening. Add vegetables.
- Dissolve bouillon in hot water and add to pan. Cook over low heat until meat is well done but veggies are still crisp (about 15 minutes). Add flour and soy sauce, stirring until thickened.
- Serve over rice and top with chow mein noodles.
Notes
Sandi likes to add water chestnuts and pea pods. If you have teens with appetites, this will barely serve four.
