Rhubarb Cake
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup sour milk
- 2 cups flour
- 3 cups rhubarb, chopped fine
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
Instructions
- Cream shortening and granulated sugar. Beat in salt and egg.
- Dissolve baking soda in the sour milk then add it and the flour to the creamed mixture alternating between wet and dry.
- Stir in rhubarb.
- Pour batter into a greased 9x13 inch pan.
- Combine brown sugar, nuts, and cinnamon. Sprinkle over top of cake batter.
- Bake at 350 degrees fahrenheit about an hour and 15 minutes or until done.
