Swedish Meatballs
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
- 1/4 cup milk
- 3/4 cup bread crumbs
- 1 whole egg
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 1/4 cup chopped onion
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 3 Tablespoons flour

- 1/2 cup water

- 1 cube beef bouillon
- for sauce
- 1 1/2 cup milk
- for sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- for sauce
- 1 dash pepper
- for sauce
Instructions
- Soften bread crumbs in milk. Add egg, salt, nutmeg, and pepper. Add onion and ground beef, mixing well. Form into 1 inch balls. Roll in flour and brown meatballs 4 or 5 at a time in small amount of oil. Place browned meatballs in a casserole dish.
- Brown flour in pan dripping. If there are none, add some butter. Add water, bouillon cube, milk, and seasonings. Bring to boil stirring constantly. Pour over meatballs. Bake covered at 325 degrees Fahrenheit for 40 minutes.
Notes
Mom notes that you can use a can of mushroom soup diluted with 1/2 can of milk instead of the last six ingredients.
